Students read a News 2 You article last week about the beginning of the holiday season and the Thanksgiving Day Parade! This week the beginning of the holiday season continued with popular toy lists. Yesterday, after reading both of these, the students were asked “What is your favorite holiday; Thanksgiving or Christmas?” The students then were given sentence starters to fill in their sentences: I like _________. I like _________ because _________. We then assisted students in developing a conclusion sentence. We talked about introduction, detail and conclusion briefly before writing. "I was so proud of how they came out."
