Escape Room in Action

Julia Carnevale's 6th graders at Ferri Middle School got an opportunity to "unlock" clues in an effort to  "Escape the Room" while practicing for RICAS!

Students had to complete tasks related to figurative language, main idea and supporting details, figurative language, text structure and point of view. In order to "unlock" "one room" they had to answer every question correctly and provide a correct code, before proceeding to the "next room."

This is a sample task for text structure. Once completed, students had to use their answers to get the correct code to unlock that "room" before going to the next room.

Students were allowed to work in teams of 2 or 3 to help support each other.

Once they completed all tasks correctly, they finally "ESCAPED"

 and received a Congratulations along with a special award from Miss Carnevale!
