April Marroquin's first graders are experts at using sentence starters. They had to research whales and inform their peers about important facts for this fascinating mammal. As indicated by the Informational Writing Rubric, their strength, without a doubt, is sentence development. April attributes this to the effective use of sentence starters.

Most students had a solid opening and a closing. Again, the sentence starters were a huge help.
