Students in fifth grade are focusing on the question:
How can I develop a well-crafted paragraph in which the development and organization are appropriate for the task, purpose and audience?
I love the way Julie Romano, fifth grade teacher at Barnes, is cementing students' understanding of task, purpose and audience.
Students were placed in small groups and each was given a writing prompt and a group job. The prompts were highly engaging which only made engagement seamless!
Each prompt included the Task, Purpose, Audience and Genre.
Students then worked in small groups to create a paragraph, keeping in mind the task assigned, the purpose of their writing and who their audience was.
What a terrific way to get students actively involved in the writing process!!
Thanks Julie, for inviting me into your classroom to see collaboration at its finest!!
Nice work Julie!
