How Are We Like Our Parents?

Second graders in Mrs. Yekelchik and Mrs. Needham's classroom study how young animals are like their parents. They studied how animals produce offspring with similar characteristics, but individual differences (kittens in a litter may be colored differently).

Students were than asked to identify and write about characteristics that they, themselves share with their parents. They discovered that although they may resemble their mom or dad, they are all unique in their own special way.

Take a look at the writing they produced. Needless to say, they were all totally engaged in this activity!
